๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Mon Youth Urged to Resist the Junta's Manipulative Tactics

On December 27, Radio NUG reported that during the 13th Mon Youth Day, the New Ramanya Federal Forces (NRFF) called on all Mon youth to resist the military junta's deceptive tactics, which aim to co-opt Mon politics into a pseudo-federal framework. Given the Mon region's critical role in the junta's sham elections, the NRFF emphasized learning from past lessons to prevent falling into these traps.

The statement urged Mon youth to contribute actively to the Mon revolutionary forces opposing the military council and to support the Mon people’s fight for independence and self-determination. It also encouraged rejecting authoritarian and ultra-nationalist ideologies infiltrating Mon society and working towards a progressive, free Mon State.

The NRFF also highlighted plans to resist the junta's mechanisms, including the sham elections scheduled for 2025, and reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling authoritarianism and building a federal union. This annual commemoration of Mon Youth Day began in 2012, inspired by the first Mon Youth Conference held on December 28, 1946.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. ASEAN Accused of Shielding Myanmar’s Military Junta

On December 27, Radio NUG cited the Blood Money Campaign MM, stating that ASEAN has prioritized protecting Myanmar's military junta rather than resolving the country's political crisis inclusively. Despite adopting the Five-Point Consensus in 2021, ASEAN has failed to enforce its implementation, as the junta has disregarded all commitments.

The report criticized ASEAN's recent actions, such as allowing Myanmar’s junta to host and attend key regional summits, facilitating arms trade worth millions, and enabling the junta’s economic survival through member states like Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. These activities have indirectly supported the junta's continued atrocities and undermined genuine efforts for peace.

Furthermore, the report noted ASEAN’s limited engagement with legitimate Myanmar representatives, including the National Unity Government (NUG), National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), and Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs). ASEAN’s humanitarian aid has been criticized for being funneled through junta-controlled channels, allowing the regime to manipulate aid for its advantage.
