Radio NUG

The UK government’s additional allocation of £22.48 million ($28M) for Myanmar will provide critical assistance to one million people in need, according to Professor Mi Mi Win Burt, who shared her analysis on social media in February.

"Many were deeply concerned when the United States suspended its foreign aid programs, fearing devastating consequences. In contrast, the UK’s latest funding announcement brought relief and optimism. This support package will help one million people in crisis.

This situation reminds us that when one door closes, another may open. Let’s reflect on the idea that opportunities often arise even in the midst of hardship," she stated.

The new U.S. administration’s executive order halted global aid distributions, which also affected Myanmar.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. While Human Trafficking Victims Are Being Repatriated from Shwe Kokko and Kyauk Khet, Chinese Crime Bosses in Fraud Operations Receive Full Security from BGF and DKBA

February 14
Radio NUG

On the morning of February 14, at approximately 9 AM, BGF (Border Guard Force) troops entered Shwe Kokko in full combat gear and began conducting raids on hotels, casinos, restaurants, KTV lounges, and money exchange centers, according to local reports.

After verifying the identities of Chinese nationals, officials escorted groups of individuals who wished to return home, stating that those with proper documentation could leave.

"Around morning, security forces entered all hotels and businesses. Everyone was ordered to evacuate—workers, managers, and staff. They were lined up and individually questioned. Officials asked them if they wanted to go home and assured those who did that arrangements would be made," a local resident in Shwe Kokko reported.

While BGF and DKBA are facilitating the transfer of human trafficking victims to Thailand, Chinese fraud business owners involved in "Kyarpyaint" (scam syndicates) are not being prosecuted. Instead, these individuals are granted enhanced security protection, ensuring their free movement.

With Thailand increasing its crackdown on online fraud networks, Chinese syndicate leaders are now escorted by armed security convoys from BGF and DKBA whenever they travel.

Locals believe this is merely a performative measure to ease international pressure while allowing fraud operations to continue unchecked.

As of February 14, afternoon, BGF forces were still conducting searches in Shwe Kokko, with checkpoints set up to monitor movement in and out of the area.
